Info

An old olive mill (oil press) was used for crushing and pressing olives in order to obtain olive oil. It consisted of a stone or wooden wheel that crushed the olives, and a press that squeezed out the oil.

Kr.).

The first olive processing systems appeared in ancient Greece around 2000 BC. Later, they were developed and spread by the Romans, who improved the technology of presses and olive mills. The first olive mills arrived on our island through ancient Greek colonization of the Adriatic in the 4th century BC.

Hvar has a very long tradition of olive growing-olives have been cultivated there since ancient times and are considered part of Mediterranean culture for thousands of years.
